Dan Wiffen has signed his first major suit deal since competing in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Wiffen, who won his first Irish title at the age of 15, is currently training alongside his twin brother Nathan at Loughborough University in England. While attending Loughborough Wiffen is studying Computer Science.

Dan is also quite the chef and when asked what he would eat after a 10k practice he mentioned making a Spanish omelet. Wiffen also has a Youtube channel called “Wiffen Twins” with his twin brother Nathan. The brothers vlog their lives as swimmers and have created videos like “What’s in my Commonwealth Games swim bag?”, “Day in the Life of D1 Athlete”, and “Week in the Life of Swimming Twins”.

In 2021 Wiffen had an outstanding season as he qualified for the Tokyo Olympic games with a standout performance at the Irish Trials. At the trials, he knocked 22 seconds off his lifetime best in the 800m freestyle and 13 seconds off the Irish record. He also holds the Irish 1500m free record (15:16.90).

Wiffen qualified for the FINA World Championships in Budapest 2022 where he smashed his own 800m Irish record with a time of 7:46.32 making him the first Irishman to make a championship final at Worlds. In Budapest, he also became the first Irishman to go sub 15 minutes in the 1500m with a time of 14:57.66.

Most recently at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this past summer, Wiffen posted a lifetime best in the 1500m free (14:51.79) and claimed the silver medal.

If Dan got to pick one song to walk out to in the Finals, he would choose Dua Lipa by Jack Harlow.
