Mallory Weggemann is a Paralympian and one of the most inspiring athletes in the world. Mallory became paraplegic in 2008 after an epidural injection to treat post-shingles back pain. Less than for four months later, she was back in the water preparing for the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. Mallory won the 50-meter freestyle in London, her first Paralympic gold medal, and also took bronze in the 4×100 medley relay.  In 2015, Mallory dominated the Para-Pan American Games taking home two golds, two silvers and bronze, with the two golds coming in championship record fashion.  She competed at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games in an astounding seven individual events; qualifying for the finals in five of them.  Mallory is a major activist for adaptive sports, and is actively building her career outside the water through motivational speaking and other public appearances around the world.

At the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo, Mallory earned two gold medals, a silver medal and broke two Paralympic records. Mallory first took home gold in the women’s 200m IM with a time of 2:55.48, breaking the Paralympic record. In the Women’s 100m backstroke, Mallory finished with a time of 1:21.27, breaking yet another Paralympic record. Mallory earned her third medal in the Women’s 50m butterfly, with a time of 34.30.
