At the recent British Swimming Olympic Trials, World Champion and FINIS-sponsored athlete, Robbie Renwick, qualified for his third Olympic Games with a medal winning performance in the 200-meter Freestyle.

Renwick, posted a time of 1:47.23 on the final night of the British Olympic Trials which took place at Tollcross International Swimming Pool in Glasgow. Renwick’s final time secured him a bronze medal, and will see him compete in the Men’s 4×200-meter Freestyle relay in Rio, the same event where he become World Champion just last year.

Renwick is no stranger to success in the pool, with Commonwealth and World titles to his name, but this summer, he will be looking to add more titles to his collection

“Coming into the race, if I had achieved the individual qualification time it would have been great, but the priority was securing a place on the 4x200m relay as this is where the medal potential lies. I’m at a stage of my career where it’s all about winning medals. We have a great opportunity in Rio and I am confident we will all step up, its hugely exciting” Robbie Renwick, World champion, Team FINIS Athlete

Renwick also competed in the heats of the 100-meter Freestyle in Glasgow, but decided to not swim the final to be fully prepared for his main event, the 200-meter Freestyle. He posted a time of 49.32 in the heats, and qualified in third place for the final.

“Robbie has had a career any swimmer would be proud of, and he doesn’t seem to be slowing up any time soon. Last years success in Kazan was well deserved, and there is no doubt that the British 4x200m quartet can be successful again in Rio this year. Robbie brings a wealth of experience to the British team, something that everyone will benefit from in the Summer.” Grant Turner, FINIS European Marketing Manager
