Well, here’s some FINIS words of wisdom to help guide you through this year!

1. What’s That One Thing?

Is it improving your swimming?! It may come as a big surprise to you, but it’s definitely #TeamFINIS’ one thing! Why swimming? Well, as we tend to look at fitness as a goal for the year–swimming is one of the best workouts you can do for yourself because it works your entire body. What’s so unique about swimming is that it builds muscle strength, endurance, and your cardio, while also being low impact on your body. 2. Involve Your Friends & Family!

Working towards a goal with a buddy or team not only gives you great motivation and support, but also makes it so much more fun! You made a goal for yourself to swim 3 times a week? Grab a swim buddy! Alternate who writes the workout, join a team, find a community, or reach out to your FINIS family! Connect with us through our social media and share your stories. We’re here to help any way we can and would be honored to be a part of your journey!

3. Go For It!

Don’t let fear or doubt enter your brain! Dive in and give it your 100%. No one is perfect, so don’t beat yourself up when you feel an area in your swimming is off. Take notice of it and make that what you focus on the next time you get in the water. You realize that you need to work on your core and arm strength? Check out our Axis Buoy and see how you can combine those two with one tool and give it a try! We have so many great tools that better you as a swimmer, from beginners to advanced! There’s something for everyone that shouldn’t stop you from reaching your goal.

4. Congratulate Yourself

Make bench marks to track your progress and give yourself a high-five (or better yet, pizza) when you reach parts of your goal! Having those markers will help you stay on track, and it’s so rewarding to see the improvements you’ve made! Maybe after a tough sprint set, you simply float and soak up the sunshine. Giving yourself a little bit of love for sticking true to your goal is well deserved. And then, well, pizza is just awesome. So there’s that.

5. Do It For You.

In the end, whatever your New Year’s resolution may be, remember to do it for you. Pick a goal that’s fun and brings you happiness when you’re working towards it. What are you passionate about?
